Yours Truly

Heartfelt, funny and completely entertaining!

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez stole my heart! I loved it!

Emergency room doctor Briana Ortiz is fresh off a painful divorce, and she's caring for her younger brother, who needs a kidney transplant. She's also hoping for a promotion that might now go to the new doctor on the scene, Jacob Maddox. She hates him until he sends her a great letter, and they start to become friends. When he turns out to be a match and is willing to donate a kidney to her brother, she rejoices, but he needs a favor too...

This was slow burn and swoon-worthy! There is so much to love about this book, enemies to lovers, fake dating, charming letter writing, witty banter, steam, all the emotions, and strong mental health rep. Jacob's anxiety is written realistically and sensitively, as is Briana's divorce and childhood trauma. I felt for both characters and pulled for them the entire time. All the characters were vividly depicted, and even the secondary characters were quirky and felt real. I loved Briana, she's fantastic, but Jacob was a stand-out cinnamon roll MMC. The pacing, storyline, humor, chemistry, and emotional stakes make this completely bingeable. Jimenez is a fantastic storyteller, and I will happily read anything she writes!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to review this ARC. I enjoyed it!

My steep was Cinnamon Plum Tea from Rishi Tea and a recommendation from my friend @bookmarked.by.becky and she was right; it's delicious! It is a hibiscus blend with cinnamon, currants, licorice root, and plum flavor. It's spicy, sweet, and tart and perfect for this book!

SYNOPSIS

Dr. Briana Ortiz's life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother's running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that's probably going to the new man-doctor who's already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana's "pain in my ass" scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it's a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn't actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who's terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her "sob closet," and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can't refuse.
