I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did, but it was fantastic! I was captivated by the story and wonderful characters and had a book hangover for days afterward.

Set in a grand old hotel, Phoebe and Lila meet after Phoebe is mistaken for one of the guests at Lila's week-long wedding celebration. The two end up unlikely friends and confidants, with life-altering changes in store for both of them.

A beautiful character study, this has flawed, relatable characters, all well-fleshed out, even the secondary characters. The two FMCs are incredible, polar opposites, complex and resilient. Phoebe is one of the most memorable characters I have read all year. I became very attached to her and her journey.

I enjoyed the author's writing style, and this story offers a lot of food for thought. One thing that particularly struck me was that there is quite a bit of sharing and dialogue between all of the characters, from small talk to deep secrets, and it's all incredibly well-written, witty, and deeply human. Several complex issues are explored and handled compassionately (check TWs). This has raw moments that tug at your heart and others that will make you laugh out loud. It is smart, funny (at times darkly so), heartwarming, and hopeful. And it's just SO good!

Helen Laser narrated the audiobook and did an amazing job! She had to embody several characters with different voices, personalities, etc, and a range of emotions. She brought everyone vibrantly to life. This was super entertaining, and I highly recommend it!

My steep was Angelina Signature Tea Blend by Angelina Tea. An oolong tea with exotic fruit flavors, flower petals, and pineapple pieces.
