Delilah and crew are hired to cater a Prohibition-themed fundraiser at an isolated historic mansion to raise money for the public library when a suspicious death occurs at the party. Thanks to a winter storm, they end up trapped overnight inside the venue with the murderer among them.


This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series! And book three did not disappoint! I love Delilah. She is relatable, competent, clever, a bit sarcastic, and always makes me laugh. She also has a heart of gold, and I love her relationships in this book, particularly with her best friend and sou chef, Sonya. The two of them alone would be worth tuning in for, but you also get a quirky supporting cast that feels real and is so much fun to spend time with and a cat that is a total scene-stealer. Then there's Delilah's chemistry with hunky police detective Calvin Capone. Swoon!   


Taking the group off-site from the restaurant and putting them in a remote house setting with the murderer among them gave the book Agatha Christie vibes that I really enjoyed! So atmospheric! The mystery is well-plotted with enough red herrings to keep you guessing and is full of fun literary and film references. Quigley's writing style is engaging, and this is well-paced. The fantastic food descriptions will have you seriously craving pizza! Delicious recipes are included, and this one features a gluten-free crust recipe I will definitely try! A fun touch with the recipes is that they are presented "in character" by Sonya, Delilah, and Daniel, the bartender. 

Cozy mystery lovers will definitely want to grab this one!
